DETROIT – Dr. Mazen Hammoud, a founding member of the Arab American Political Action Committee (AAPAC) who currently serves as Ford Motor Company’s Powertrain Calibration Manager, received a Wayne State University College of Engineering Outstanding Industry Achievement award on Saturday October, 2 during the Night of the Stars yearly celebration at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Hammoud joined Ford Research in 1998 to lead in camless engine development projects before moving on to a position with the Ford Product Development Leadership Program in 2002. He was then appointed Powertrain Controls Hardware Manager in 2004 before moving to his current position ion Powertrain Calibration in April 2006.
Hammoud has been an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) since 1991 and was elected SAE Fellow in 2009 after serving on its International Board of Directors from 2007-2009 and as SAE Detroit Section Chairman in 2004 and 2005.
As an active member of the WSU Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board, he participated in setting the department’s strategic direction while also facilitating key connections between important technical individuals at Ford with the Department of Mechanical Engineering faculty.
He is also the author of several technical papers and international patents and is known for initiating high school outreach programs between Ford and Fordson High School in Dearborn.
