DEARBORN — In response to cuts in Michigan’s
recently-approved budget, state universities are expecting a wide range of
tuition raises next school year, with Oakland University expected to adopt the
highest raise at a 7% level. Michigan State’s tuition will go up 6.9%, Michigan
Tech’s 6.95%, Lake Superior State’s 6.94%, Saginaw Valley’s 6.9%,
Michigan-Dearborn’s 6.9%, Michigan-Flint’s 6.8% and the University of Michigan’s
6.7% for in-state undergrads and 4.9% for out-of-state students. Eastern
Michigan’s rate increase is the lowest at 3.65%. Wayne State was still
undecided as of press time as was Henry Ford Community College but both were
anticipating raises near the 7% mark according to reports.
