DEARBORN — Eleven-year-old Fatima Jomaa, who’s a student at Bryant Middle School here, was recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in Social Studies. She was nominated for the honor by Elizabeth Magee, a teacher at the school. Jomaa will appear in the United States Achievement Academy’s Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.

She’s always excelled in school academically, and is currently a 4.0 honor roll student. Jomaa has participated in the art club, leadership club, economics club, safety patrol and running club.  Additionally, she volunteers at local mosques, and received an award for artwork that was selected to go to China and be displayed in various Chinese schools.  

“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America’s history. Certainly, United States Achievement students should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement,” said George Stevens, Founder of the United States Achievement Academy. The Academy recognizes students upon the exclusive recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors, and other qualified sponsors  and upon the Standards for Selection set forth by the Academy. The Standards for Selection include academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability, and recommendation from a qualified sponsor. 

Those who get their biographical information and photo published in the yearbook qualify to apply for one of the 400 scholarship cash grants awarded each year by the non-profit USAA Scholarship Foundation. “I offer my personal congratulations as well as congratulations from the Academy staff and Selection Committee.
