LANSING — On Tuesday, May 13, Michigan Muslim Capitol Day was held in Lansing. Members of the community had the opportunity to discuss some of the key issues impacting them with political leaders.
The annual event looks to promote unity and cooperation among the diverse Muslim communities, cultures, ethnic backgrounds and races by convening and mobilizing the Muslim community. It also helps promote the best Islamic and American values through advocacy, while organizing service, education and partnerships and coalitions with ethnic racial, religious, education and civic organizations, government and the media, among others.
Emmy Award-winning TV Producer Carol Cain emceed the MMCC Capitol Day. It was cosponsored by 39 State legislators from both parties. Governor Rick Snyder and Attorney General Bill Schuette welcomed the presence of Muslim Michiganians in the Capitol.
