DEARBORN — The League of Women Voters of Dearborn / Dearborn Heights is organizing a candidate forum for the upcoming primary election in Dearborn. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 12, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at the Dearborn Administrative Center, 16901 Michigan Ave.
The public is invited to attend the forum to meet candidates running for judge and the state house. Paula Bowman, a member of the League of Women Voters of Northwest Wayne County and of the League’s State Board, will moderate the event. The forum will be taped by the city of Dearborn and aired on its government channels as well as online.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with an explanation of what’s on the ballot and information about the ballot proposals. At 6:30 p.m., the 19th District Court judicial candidates will participate in a candidate forum. At 7:30 p.m., the 15th District state representative candidates have been invited to participate in a candidate forum.
City council President Susan Dabaja and attorneys Gene Hunt and Abbie Bazzi are vying for the position of judge. State rep. candidates include Abdullah Hammoud, Brian Stone, Jacklin Zeidan and Roxanne McDonald.

Betsy Cushman, president of the League of Women Voters of Dearborn / Dearborn Heights, encouraged engagement and participation.
“The best thing we can all do is urge everyone to prepare by attending a candidate forum and visiting VOTE411.org. Inform yourself and vote,” she said in a statement.
