TROY — On Tuesday, June 7, The Arab American and Chaldean Council hosted its 14th annual Golf Outing and Scholarship Awards Dinner, assisting the ACC Scholarship awards program, at West Bloomfield’s Shenandoah Country Club.
“The ACC makes it a priority for students in our community to have all the opportunities available to them in order to pursue their education and achieve academic success,” said Dr. Haifa Fakhouri, President of the Arab American and Chaldean Council.
With the support of generous sponsors, the ACC’s 2016 Scholarship Program gave out 32 Scholarships. The award recipients are Salar Brikho, Jewel Konja, Selena Cholak, Cameron Shadaia, Yara Toufaily, Abla Aldabashi, Mariam Mekhail, Mario Hanna, Iman Waell-Al-Kahil, Melissa Mezy, Angelina Adam, Lexus Gargis, Nicola Nunu, Loumar Nuaman, Yousif Esho, Lauren Zaitowna, Ryan Shami, Amanda Azar, Isabella Daoud, Maha Aljawobei, Ceriena Khzouz, Meyam Behnam, Cloie Chidiac, Emily Yatooma, Anthony Cholagh, Samira Awadallah, Maysa Damen, Wael Kassir, Ellese Jaddou, Rita Iessa-Murad, Martin Iessa-Murad and Elias Qamar.
Scholarship recipients provided outstanding academic achievement, leadership skills and volunteer work in the community.
This year, ACC also welcomed three honorary co-chairs: Bridget Hurd, senior director of Diversity and Inclusion at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; Monty Fakhouri, corporate business manager at Beaumont Hospital and Brian Santee, senior sales director at Frito-Lay North America.
