DEARBORN – Last week The Arab American News revealed exclusively through an interview with Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad that six new officers would be hired into the department.
On Monday, the department had sent out a press release identifying the six new police officers who completed their police academy training. The new officers were sworn into the department at a ceremony attended by both Chief Haddad and Mayor Jack O’Reilly. One the six new officers, Adel Saleh, was identified as an Arab American. Saleh is a 31-year-old Dearborn resident who is a graduate from the University of Phoenix and is a former member of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
The five remaining new officers identified were; Bradley Clair, a 28-year-old graduate of Wayne State University, John Balowski, a 27-year-old former Army veteran and Wayne State University student, Derrall Hill Jr., a 24-year-old graduate of Madonna University, Thomas Golden, a 24-year-old graduate of Rochester College, and Steven Vert, a 26-year-old graduate of Schoolcraft Community College and former police dispatcher for the city of Ferndale.
Mayor Jack O’Reilly congratulated the new officers, recognizing them as high achievers.
“It is the duty of all Dearborn police officers to serve the citizens of Dearborn with the superior service that our residents have grown accustomed to,” Mayor O’Reilly stated.
The six officers will begin a two-week in-house orientation program before starting their patrol activities on December 31st. Six more officers are expected to be hired in the first quarter of 2013.
