While jobs continue to be scarce in the current United States economic climate, the Internet continues to provide a bastion of hope for those looking for alternate ways to make a living.

Oftentimes, all it simply takes is an idea, a vision, and a commitment to getting things done, and there are countless success stories out there to prove it.
Mohammad Al Adham’s is one such story and his youth is also a testament to inclusiveness of the online business world. There is no hierarchy based on age, ethnicity, sex, class, religion, or any other factor, just a landscape where the creative and the cunning often have a leg up on the competition.
The founder of the rapidly-growing Twitter application TwitVid, the 24-year old entrepreneur of Jordanian descent has carved out a niche for himself on the Internet’s white-hot social and business networking circuit thanks in large part to the support of his business partner Adil Lalani.
Lalani, whom Al Adham met in college at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, had experience in owning a business from the age of 16. The two paired up to launch EatLime, Inc., a real-time video sharing company, in May 2008.
The idea for EatLime came in the winter of 2007 when Lalani and his band on campus at the University of Waterloo tried to send a video to a friend of one of their performances. Lalani and Al Adham were shocked at the snail-like pace at which most Internet tools moved videos from sender to recipient. Al Adham used his experience as a software engineer (he graduated with a degree in the field in 2007) along with Lalani’s help to build a system that sent videos faster than virtually all of the applications they had come across on the Internet.
Building on the success of EatLime was the TwitVid application, a video-sharing software application for Twitter that can be found at TwitVid.com. The application took off in early 2009 as use of Twitter among businesses and mutual friends continued to grow. Twitter allows users to post short messages and links that can be viewed by fellow users who “follow” their posts to the site. Now, TwitVid.com is visited by more than 2 million unique users each month.
Al Adham, who was born in Kuwait and also attended high school in Dubai for two years, talked about the eight-person TwitVid group’s successes.
“TwitVid.com is definitely the product of a team effort,” he said. “A lot of people have helped Adil and I along the way, including our investors and advisors.
“We also have a great team of smart engineers who are super excited about the space.”
Al Adham currently resides in San Francisco but still makes plenty of visits back east to see family. While he enjoys the laid-back California vibe, he has even bigger plans for what TwitVid.com can accomplish and the intense drive to see them through.
“Our vision for TwitVid.com is for it to become the destination for people who want to watch currently popular videos around the web,” Al Adham said.
“TwitVid.com has grown very fast and we are proud of its success. We are always working to add new features that continue to set us apart from anything else in the market.”
Mohammad Al Adham’s four tips for aspiring Internet entrepreneurs
1. Start with a simple prototype of your ideas. Once you have something, continue to iterate on the idea/product until you reach the right product-market fit.
2. Networking is very important. Surround yourself with others in the industry who have “been there and done that” and listen to their advice.
3. Find an investor who believes in you as an entrepreneur. This is a huge plus.
4. Understand your strengths and weaknesses. For instance, once you realize you are not the greatest web developer, hire someone else to do that work and focus on what you do best.
