On May 4, Abed Hammoud joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office for
the Eastern District of Michigan in the position of Assistant U.S. Attorney.
Hammoud formerly served as Lead Attorney in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s
Office, most recently leading their mortgage fraud prosecutions department.
Hammoud had worked with the office since 1996.

Before earning his law degree at Wayne State University Law
School as well as an MBA, Abed worked as an engineer in France, where he earned
undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering. Abed, who was born in
Lebanon, is fluent in Arabic and French.
He has been active in many community organizations including but not
limited to the Arab American Political Action Committee, the Lebanese American
Heritage Club and the ADC.
Hammoud will be formally sworn in at the Theodore Levin
Federal Courthouse in Detroit on Monday, May 16 at 2 p.m.
The Congress of Arab American Organizations in Michigan will
also hold a private, invitation-only reception in honor of Hammoud on June 14,
2011 at Byblos Banquet Hall in Dearborn at 6 p.m.
“We are very proud of Abed’s accomplishments and his
impeccable record, we know he will do an excellent job as an assistant to the
U.S. attorney,” said
CAAO Spokesman Osama Siblani.
Hammoud is married to his wife Mona, a banking executive,
and has two sons, Mustapha, and Mazen.
