DEARBORN — On Friday August 3rd,  the four suspects attained for the murder of Dearborn resident Hassan Jaber appeared at the 19th District Court in front of a packed courtroom. The four suspects, Charles Jackson, 26, Zelda Taylor, 28, Iashia Knox, 28, and Kristen Holmes, 28, are facing charges of felony murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

The Preliminary Examination, which was scheduled to take place on this day, was instead delayed to August 17, under an agreement with each of the suspects attornies as well as the prosecutor on the case, who needed the time to gather more evidence, including reviewing over 15 hours of taped interviews.

The prosecutor on the case did state that there will be five witnesses who are expected to appear at the examination, before Judge Mike Somers. What was even more surprising was that supporters and family members of the four suspects were all gathered at the courtroom. Since their arrest in late July, the four suspects have been remanded to the Wayne County Jail.

Hassan Jaber, a 45-year-old construction worker was found dead in his home on July 15 after a a concerned neighbor went to go check on him when he didn’t show up to finish a construction job on his porch.

While the facts of the case are expected to be reviewed during the examination, Dearborn Police has confirmed that the murder was not a random incident, and that the four suspects possibly knew Jaber prior to the murder. Jaber’s family told the Arab American News last month that Jaber hired help for his construction from time to time.
