DEARBORN — Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) now employs a Financial Aid Priority Deadline to help protect students from the de-registration process (where they are dropped or removed from class) and to ensure they receive financial aid in a timely manner. The priority deadline to apply for financial aid at Henry Ford Community College is Thursday, Aug. 9. Fall term begins August 23.
The HFCC Office of Financial Aid must receive the 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than Aug. 9 to prevent de-registration It takes three to five business days from the time students submit their FAFSA before the HFCC Office of Financial Aid receives the FAFSA information electronically.
To begin the application process, please visit www.fafsa.gov. HFCC’s federal school code is 002270.
In addition, those students who are unable to apply for the FAFSA before Aug. 9 may still register for fall classes. However, students must either set up a payment plan or pay tuition and fees in full to avoid the de-registration process. If students complete the FAFSA after Aug. 9, there is no guarantee that they will not be de-registered. There is also no guarantee after the Aug. 9 deadline that financial aid will be awarded for use toward book purchases and tuition before the fall term begins Thursday, Aug. 23.
