WARREN — The scholarship committee of Metro Detroit Youth Day is seeking to provide college scholarships to graduating high school seniors which will be given out at the 29th annual Metro Detroit Youth Day July 13th on the athletic field of Belle Isle.
Last year the organization, in cooperation with the Michigan Youth Appreciation Foundation and Michigan Food and Beverage Association, gave out 54 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from the metro Detroit area.
“The Youth Day organization began honoring students for academic achievement and community service, and also awarding college scholarships in 1991,” according to chairman and co-founder Ed Deeb. “We are no longer just fun and games,” Deeb said. “We promote college education and getting our students to stay in college, graduate, and get a job,” Deeb added.
