DETROIT — Wayne County Social Security offices in Dearborn, Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park, Inkster, Livonia and Wyandotte will be open M-F from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. beginning August 15, which is a reduction of 30 minutes per weekday at the offices.
Congress provided Social Security with $1 billion less than was asked for for the fiscal year meaning the offices needed to cut overtime hours.
Many services can be completed online, however, including signing up for direct deposit, replacing a Medicare card, and more. Visit www.socialsecurity.gov for more information or please call 800.772.1213. Those people who are deaf or have hearing problems can call the special TTY number at 800.325.0778.
