DEARBORN –
City Council President Susan A. Dabaja announced her candidacy for 19th
District Court judge this week.
Dabaja seeks
to replace Judge William C. Hultgren, whose term finishes at the end of the
year.
Born and
raised in Dearborn, Dabaja is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn
and the University of Detroit Mercy – School of Law.
Dabaja said she
spent 11 years of her legal career in the city, representing her clients on
civil, immigration, business, real estate, landlord-tenant, family, criminal,
contracts and bankruptcy law cases.
“As an
experienced courtroom attorney and devoted public servant, I will apply the
same commitment that I do on City Council and be a positive force in serving our
residents as Judge at the 19th District Court,” Dabaja said.
Dabaja was
first elected to Dearborn City Council in 2013.
In addition
to being City Council president, she also co-chairs the Dearborn Education
Foundation, serves as treasurer of the Dearborn Bar Association and is an
active member/volunteer in the Dearborn Rotary, Dearborn Historical Museum,
Dearborn Goodfellows, Neighborhood Association Clean-ups and AAPAC.
Dabaja is
the second person to announce her candidacy for this position. Attorney Abbie
Bazzi announced her candidacy on January 26.
Dabaja is married to Majid Hammoud and together they have three children
Claudia, Joël and Adam.
