DEARBORN — The Accounting Aid Society is scheduled to begin holding free income tax preparation assistance sessions at ACCESS, 2651 Saulino Court in Dearborn, starting Saturday, February 2.
Assistance will be available every Saturday in February from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to low income families and individuals—up to $40,000 annual income for families, up to $20,000 for individuals.
The ACCESS office is one of 26 Southeast Michigan locations where the Accounting Aid Society will offer the services.
Sessions will be held on a first come, first serve basis and assistance in Arabic will be available.
Chaldean American CPA Sondos Reyes is scheduled to volunteer her services offering both Arabic and Chaldean translation.
Rayes, of Sterling Heights, is a staff accountant at the MRPR Group in Southfield and is treasurer of the Araden Aid Society, a group that raises money to be sent to Iraq for reconstruction efforts.
Rayes moved to the U.S. from Iraq in 1995, obtaining accounting degrees from Walsh College.
Those who attend the sessions seeking assistance should bring all income and expense documents, ID, and — if planning to file electronically —social security cards.
