INKSTER — Michigan State Police are inspecting a double-shooting following a supposed bad drug deal.

State police detectives were called at about 10:20 p.m. May 2 to investigate the shootings, which involved two men. One man was shot twice and is being treated at Beaumont-Dearborn. The other was shot once and is beng treated at Beaumont-Annapolis in Wayne.

Police think the man shot twice bought a quarter-ounce of marijuana from the man shot once at the intersection of Lehigh and Bayhan, which is north of Annapolis and east of John Daly.

The State Police statement on the incident said when the man buying the drugs pulled out his money, the other man pulled out a handgun and shot him.

The victim subsequently grappled the gun away and shot his assailant, who fled on foot.

After the victim drove home, his mother was about to take him to the hospital when she flagged down a Garden City police car.

Police said the other man was taken to the hospital by an “acquaintance.” When police arrived to investigate, he purportedly lied about his identity and what happened that night. He said he was a victim of a drive-by shooting.

He was arrested, pending charges.
